Bohemians complete Great Bristol Run in their full cricket kit

Four members of Bohemians Cricket Club were among the 12,000 competitors who took part in the Great Bristol Run on May 14.

Dressed in full cricket kit to raise funds for their charity partner St Peter’s Hospice, the Bohemians runners certainly stood out from the crowd. Mike Joy and Alex White donned their batting pads and whites to run the 10k and Becky, their elite runner, completed the half marathon.

Club member Lewis Rodgers went one step further by running the half marathon while trying to break the 1hr 40 minute Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon dressed in full cricket kit. In the event, Lewis achieved the distance in a pacey 2hr 4 minutes and may try for the record again next year.

Bohemians CC have been long term supporters of hospice care after one of their founder youth coaches was cared for by St Peter’s Hospice. Bohemians, established in 1882, is one of the oldest cricket clubs in Bristol, has two teams in the Bristol and District Cricket League and are based at The Mile Straight Sports and Social Club, New Road in Filton.
