Feargal Sharkey highlights water pollution problem

Rock singer turned environmental campaigner Feargal Sharkey is touring Great Britain – visiting some of our best loved rivers and seas. And last month he came to the Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency.

Back on the road for the first time in nearly 40 years, the former Undertones frontman and campaigner met local campaigners to highlight the pollution in the River Frome.

Visiting the Frome Valley Walkway in Winterbourne, Sharkey discussed the poor quality of the water in what is otherwise a beautiful area.

Feargal said: “People in Winterbourne and across the Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency have a wonderful opportunity to enjoy time in nature with the Frome Valley Walkway here. There’s just one problem, the River Frome is highly polluted and essentially ecologically dead.”
