WECA scooter complaints kept quiet

The West of England Combined Authority is refusing to reveal the number of complaints about e-scooters and ridership figures. Despite controversially changing the contract to run e-scooters in the Bristol and Bath region from Voi to Tier-Dott, barely any data has been made public.

The West of England Combined Authority is facing calls to be more transparent over the effects of its decision to switch the contracts. A freedom of information request was submitted in December last year, and the combined authority only responded last month, well over the legal limit of 20 working days.

The information governance team at the combined authority said they intended to provide ridership figures to the Department for Transport, as part of their evaluation of the national e-scooter pilot. are exempt from freedom of information laws, as they will be published in the future.
