A woman from Little Stoke has avoided a jail sentence after stealing more than £900 of alcohol from a supermarket.
Zoe Alexander of Little Stoke Lane, Little Stoke, appeared before Taunton Magistrate Court last month and pleaded guilty to a string of thefts from a branch of Sainsbury’s in Queensway, Weston.
The first offence happened on 31 March when she stole £346 of alcohol from the shop. On 3 April, she returned to the same store and stole a further £228 of alcohol, and another £345 worth on 13 April.
Magistrates imposed eight-week consecutive suspended prison sentences lasting for 12 months on each of the three offences. Ms Alexander was also given a rehabilitation order and told to pay £574 compensation to Sainsbury’s for the first two thefts. The third charge from 13 April was later withdrawn.
