President Sue Grimsted welcomed members and visitors to our meeting on 2 July.
Our speaker this evening was Sarah Weaver who is a reflexologist. She asked for a volunteer and gave a demonstration on some of the techniques used to ease aches and pains in different parts of the body by manipulating areas of the feet or hands by stimulating points that are connected to the various bodily systems. Reflexology involves working rhythmically through both feet and which follows the flow of the body and identifies and addresses imbalances. This looked like a very relaxing experience judging by our volunteer’s smile.
As this was our 59th birthday meeting, we also held an American Supper which was enjoyed by all.
We do not hold a meeting in August but some of our members intend to follow the Gromit Trail which we will probably report on in the September issue of the Voice. Also some of our members will be entering exhibits in the Thornbury and District Produce and Craft Show on 9 August, which we visited last year and were very impressed by.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 3 September when our speaker will be Lottie Dale talking about Falling with Style.
Visitors will always find a warm welcome at our WI group which is held on the first Wednesday of the month in the Trust Hall, Stoke Gifford so please come along and join us.
