ADVERTORIAL – Give a child a summer to remember

For many of us, summer brings memories of beach days, ice creams, and family holidays. But for children in care, these simple joys are often missing. This summer, Foster South Glos* is inviting local residents to consider fostering — and give a child the chance to experience the kind of summer every child deserves.

The campaign, “Give a Child a Summer to Remember,” highlights the powerful impact foster carers can have. Whether it’s a first trip to the seaside, a garden picnic, or just feeling safe and cared for, these moments can be life-changing for a child who has experienced instability or trauma.

You don’t need to be married, own your own home, or have parenting experience to become a foster carer. All you need is a spare room and a big heart. Foster South Glos provides full training, 24/7 support, and generous weekly payments to help carers provide the best possible care.

On average, carers receive £537 per week, per child, plus additional allowances for birthdays, holidays, and school needs. There’s also access to local support groups, free activities, and national discount schemes.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering — or even if you’re just curious — Foster South Glos is hosting a Fostering Information Evening on Monday 29 September, 6.30-8pm at Little Stoke Community Hall. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure way to learn more, ask questions, and hear from real foster carers about their experiences.
