Town Council Community Festival returns!

June sees the return of the popular Community Festival hosted by Bradley Stoke Town Council and Re-energize, which entertains residents of all ages over a packed weekend.

The main community festival day is on Saturday 7 June from 11.30am to 6pm.

Natalie Field, Mayor of Bradley Stoke, said: “We are delighted that a full Bradley Stoke Festival is taking place again this year leading on from the successful events which happened last year and the extremely positive feedback that we received about the festival.”

Dayley Lawrence, Deputy Mayor of Bradley Stoke, said “It was great to see so many local people enjoying, having fun and participating in the festival last year and there being something for everyone at this year’s festival, too.”

This year, the music will be provided by a mix of local bands including Longshots, Limited Edition, Sonic Sunrise, The Layers, V-Dubz, Zoom Club and the Saturday Night Bee Gees tribute band.

Local dance groups performing in between the bands are from Stoke Gifford School of Dance, Baby Ballet, 5678 Dance, Danceworks, Street Cred and Emma Kate Dance Academy.

Fun rides for the children include bungee trampolines, giant slides, football games, giant inflatables, plus a wrecking ball inflatable, Mash the Mole and Gladiator Duel in the free-to-ride community zone. Alongside these will be the popular, young children’s Go-Karts. A tall mobile climbing wall will be set up alongside the Bradley Stoke Scouts’ stalls which also features tomahawk throwing and junior archery plus a lot of other fun activities.

More than 40 stalls will feature a range of arts and crafts, from hair styling and colouring, face painting, to jewellery and accessories plus services and associations, alongside sideshows and community stalls offering a range of products.

Bradley Stoke Town Council youth workers and young people are again organising two days of skatepark skills and creative art activities. A skatepark half-pipe returns and offers exceptional demos, by top riders and skaters, plus regular have-a-go sessions. The popular street art ‘paint a board’ sessions supported by youth workers and young volunteers will also return.

Bradley Stoke Youth Football Club will be running their Football Festival as normal, which will include different age groups starting from reception. This will involve small-sided matches throughout the day with trophies being awarded to the winning teams and will take place on the top field football pitches starting from 12 noon.

On Sunday 8 June, the annual Bradley Stoke 10k will return at 9.30am. Organised by women’s running club Sole Sisters, this race starts and finishes at the Jubilee Centre and this year marks the 20th anniversary of this popular race. To mark the occasion, finishers will receive a sparkly medal decorated with bold black and gold glitter – as well as the Bradley Stoke 10k duck icon.

Over at the skatepark, the Bradley Stoke youth work will host its festival competition with more pro-rider demos, ‘have-a-go’ opportunities and art workshops with Olas Arts on vinyl records from noon until 5pm.
