Young people in Bradley Stoke are among those who are set to benefit from 120,000 new training opportunities as part of a radical skills revolution, giving them the chance to develop skills where they are most needed.
More skilled brickies, carpenters and healthcare support workers will soon be trained up as Labour continues its drive to get Britain working, with landmark reforms announced today that refocus the skills landscape towards young, domestic talent.
The measures will open up opportunities for young people to succeed in careers the country needs to prosper. More routes into skilled work mean more people building affordable homes, more care for NHS patients, and more digital experts. This includes an additional 30,000 apprenticeship starts across this Parliament.
This investment is a critical step in delivering Labour’s Plan for Change mission to create a decade of national renewal, putting more money in people’s pockets across Filton and Bradley Stoke and breaking down barriers to opportunity.
Claire Hazelgrove, MP for the Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency, said: “When I’m knocking on doors every week to listen, I often hear how people want more opportunities for the next generation. Our new Labour government is working hard to deliver on this, including with these great opportunities to go into key sectors like construction and healthcare.
“I’m glad that our new government is rightly backing young people across our community so they can learn a trade, earn a wage and contribute by supporting our NHS and building the homes we desperately need.”
