The Bradley Stoke community came together for a successful community orchard tree planting event at the Brook Way Activity Centre, which took place last month.
The day was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork and a shared commitment to enhancing the local environment as part of Bradley Stoke Town Council’s work on the Local Nature Action Plan.
The event saw incredible support from a variety of organisations and community members, including the Willow Brook Centre, Bradley Stoke Green Gym, local councillors, council staff, members of the public, and even players from the Bristol Pitbulls ice hockey team. With their combined efforts, participants worked tirelessly to dig holes and plant trees, ensuring the orchard’s future growth.

In total, an impressive 40 fruit trees were planted, marking a significant step toward creating a lasting green space that will benefit the community for years to come. This orchard will provide fresh fruit, improve biodiversity, and offer a welcoming environment for local residents to enjoy.
“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we received,” said Councillor Natalie Field, Mayor of Bradley Stoke. “This event was a fantastic demonstration of community spirit, and we look forward to watching these trees grow and flourish as a shared resource for all.”
The community orchard tree planting is one of many initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and community engagement. Residents are encouraged to visit the orchard, take care of the newly planted trees, and enjoy the benefits of this wonderful green space.
Bradley Stoke Town Council will be further developing the orchard by including a wellbeing space.
A special thank you goes to the sponsors who made this event possible: Hamberley Care Homes (Lovell Place), Willow Brook Centre, ARV Solutions, Explore Learning, One Planet Matters, The Tree Council, and Forest of Avon Trust. Their support has played a crucial role in making this project a reality.
