Rescued by the road

When a Patchway resident called Colin was driving home via Bradley Stoke, he spotted a tiny puppy dragging himself across the road. Colin rushed the dog to Rowe Vets in Bradley Stoke where the pup was admitted into emergency care. The three or four month old unchipped dog was found to have a broken pelvis and leg.

After reporting the incident to the dog warden, the vets operated on him twice and released him to Dogs Friends when he was strong enough. No owner was ever traced.

After giving him the name Rory, Dogs Friends brought him into foster care where he is having a miracle recovery. They believe that with rehabilitation, he will be able to live a happy life, and he has started to walk and is seeming very happy. Dogs Friends also contacted Colin, the man who found Rory, and updated him on Rory’s progress, which was an emotional call.

Rory will stay in foster care as he recovers from surgery and undergoes physical rehabilitation, before looking for an adoptive home. Dogs Friends is grateful to Rowe Vets for providing Rory’s operations free of charge. However, the charity will be fundraising for Rory to have hydrotherapy and physiotherapy to help him lead a full life so any donations would be very welcome: dogsfriends.me.uk
