Dad’s bid to turn screen time into quality time

Royal Marines veteran and local father of two Jason Gardiner has launched a personalised storytelling app that helps children aged four to eight manage emotions and build resilience through interactive stories.

LAPP was inspired by a moment when Jason created a personalised book for his son using real photographs. Seeing the impact it had, he set out to create an app where children become the main characters in their own adventures.

The app goes uses social stories that help children navigate real life challenges such as starting school, making friends and managing anxiety. It teaches emotional regulation techniques including breathing exercises and calming strategies, and also encourages self-recognition through stories that reflect their own experiences.

LAPP offers 19 personalised books, including three free titles with no adverts. Subscribers have full access to the entire library, the option to listen to stories read aloud, and all future titles as they are released.
