Royal Mail delays in Stoke Gifford

Some residents in Stoke Gifford have been going for weeks without receiving any postal deliveries from Royal Mail.

One resident, named only as John, said that the gaps between deliveries to his home were so huge that he received 31 letters in one go due to the backlog. He said: “I would say that about 70% of it was vital documents, if you like, that you need for your everyday life.”

John explained that he lived on a relatively new estate in Stoke Gifford but the problem wasn’t isolated to the streets near him. After posting on a community Facebook group about the issue, John was inundated with responses from others in the area who have been having the same problem with scant Royal Mail deliveries to their homes.

One commenter said: “Just had a letter delivered that was posted by the Department of Work & Pensions over two weeks ago. Deliveries seem to be very sporadic. Almost missed a hospital appointment because the letter was delayed.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson responded and said: “We’re aware of reports of delays to deliveries in the area. Our local team is continuing to work hard to deliver mail as quickly and efficiently as possible. “
