On Saturday March 7, residents of Bradley Stoke and the surrounding towns are invited to join the International Women’s Day events that are being held at the Spitfire Hangar at Brabazon from 10am until 3pm.
Bradley Stoke Mayor Natalie Field said: “I am delighted that we have a full programme of events for celebrating International Women’s Day. The first of these has already taken place on 28 February and was aimed at young women and girls. It was fantastic to see so many taking part at this skater and art event at the skatepark.”
Bradley Stoke Town Council has taken the lead and partnered with Patchway Town Council, Charlton Hayes Parish Council and Almondsbury Parish Council for the event. Further details are available: bradleystoke.gov.uk
Natalie added: “Come along to enjoy a wide range of free workshops, discussion panels, fashion show, information stalls, free breakfast snacks and more. Everyone is welcome.”
As well as the full day of events on 7 March, there are also a few fringe IWD events. These are: Women and Mythology talk, on Tuesday 3 March, at Little Stoke Baptist Church, 7.30pm. What is Feminism? talk, on Wednesday 4 March, at Stoke Gifford Trust Ground, 7.30pm. Women Who Inspire Us discussion, on Thursday 12 March, at St Peter’s Church Cafe, 2pm.
There will also be a free film night on Friday 6 March at 7pm at the Brightwell Centre showing Bend It Like Beckham, which is a fun film from a feminist perspective that shows the battle against gender stereotypes and the pressures put on women in society.
