Volunteers from the South Gloucestershire branch of the National Autistic Society hosted a successful Family Fun Day at Woodhouse Park in Almondsbury.
The event provided a safe and inclusive environment for families with autistic children and young people to enjoy a day out together. On the day, 65 children and young adults took part in a variety of activities including archery, axe throwing, crate stacking and snow tubing.
Alongside the outdoor activities, the event featured several fundraising stalls such as hook-a-duck, name the bear and a tombola. Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, the branch raised £270.50 and the funds will go directly towards organising more events for autistic young people in the local area.
Chris Davies, Chair of the National Autistic Society’s South Gloucestershire branch, said: “The day was filled with smiles, laughter and a sense of adventure as attendees embraced new experiences and the great outdoors.”
The branch is keen to hear from local businesses interested in sponsoring future activities, as well as individuals who may wish to volunteer. Anyone interested in getting involved can contact: southgloucestershire.branch@nas.org.uk
