Bristol Bot Builders is a volunteer-run organisation promoting STEM in the community, running nine robot combat events a year around the city. It’s just like ‘Robot Wars’ but smaller and more accessible.

During October, we ran our BBB Beetle Champs 2025, the UK championship for the 1.5kg Beetleweight class, with more than 50 robots taking part from across the UK and Europe. Around 300 people came to watch.
While the robots can have a vast range of weapons from spinning blades to crushers and grabbers, the event was won by a flipper called Cascade, who beat an overhead saw robot called Chopstick in a very close final. We’ll be back at St Michael’s Centre for BBB Beetle Brawl on Saturday 26 February next year.
