Little Stoke & District Ladies’ Club
Little Stoke & District Ladies’ Club have been busy for the last couple of months.
In November, we had a quiz and a fish and chip supper. And on 9 December, we had a Christmas meal at Filton Golf Club, which was attended by most of our members. Everyone enjoyed it and thought the food was delicious.
We meet twice a month on the first and third Tuesday of the month, and meet at Little Stoke Baptist Church. Please telephone Julie on 07814 443793 or see our Facebook page for more information.
Stoke Gifford WI
Our new president Jo Janes welcomed members to our meeting on Wednesday 3 December.
We had not arranged a speaker for this evening as we were to have a catered Christmas meal. This was provided by AHM Catering Experience in Staple Hill, Bristol. Everything, such as crockery and cutlery, was provided and was nicely set out with Christmas crackers on the tables. The food was brought piping hot to our tables and was beautifully cooked. This included meals for vegetarians and gluten-free members.
Following our meal, we had been asked to provide presents for a Secret Santa game which was great fun, with presents being passed back and forth until the end of the story which was read by our Vice-President, Margaret Robbins, to accompany it. The evening ended on a cheery note with a small amount of WI business.
On Saturday 6 December, lots of our members met at Stoke Gifford Baptist Church Hall for a wreath-making craft day. Karen Flowers brought along moss rings and decorations and showed us how to make up the wreaths. Members had brought along bags of foliage such as fir, eucalyptus, holly with berries and mistletoe etc from their gardens. This proved to be a hugely successful day and, although members had not attempted this craft before, the end results were fantastic and, probably can be seen hanging on a front door somewhere near you.
Visitors will always find a warm welcome at our WI group which is held on the first Wednesday of the month in the Trust Hall, Stoke Gifford so please come along and join us. Our next meeting on 7 January will include the speaker Vera Seaman, who will be talking about the Post Office.
